Job Description 

Working at the general direction of the Director, the primary responsibility of this position is organizing and delivering service to Media Services clients.  These services include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities:

  • Operate, maintain, problem-solve and provide tech support for classroom technology systems and services.
  • Provide in-person and remote service and support for live classroom and event presentation as well as webinar/web-meeting/streaming formats.
  • Identify emerging technology that may improve instructional and learning experiences, share with management to settle on which products to explore/demo further, and work with the rest of the team on testing and verification of solutions.
  • Audio/video recording, webcasting, distance learning and video-conferencing.
  • Deliver training and consultation for clients as they continuously adopt new technology tools for live and remote presentations.
  • The implementation, care of and associated faculty/user training of classroom educational technology equipment.
  • Specification, execution of set-up and operation of various audio-visual tools including audio reinforcement systems, video projection systems, video capture and streaming equipment, production and event lighting and other audio-visual tools.
  • Audio/video capture, editing, compression and multi-format delivery of classroom and event content.
  • Guidance, support and quality assurance of UMS departmental loaner laptops providing world-class client service to members of the University community and the guests of the University.
  • Utilizing the ServiceNow platform, manage and assign service tickets to Media Services staff or reassign to other departments as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred) with 3-5 years of relevant experience required.
  • This position requires an individual who prefers a team environment and understands, appreciates and works well within a team-oriented group.
  • Knowledge of media and digital technologies, web applications, standards based and soft codec based video conferencing technologies, educational media, and computer and information technology including both hardware and various operating systems.
  • The incumbent must stay current with developments in media and technology as it relates to higher education.
  • The incumbent must be organized and self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to train and supervise student employees, as well as a serious commitment to customer service, strong problem solving skills, attention to detail, a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, and a good sense of humor.
  • Experience with the following tools/equipment is preferred: digital video content acquisition using professional grade cameras, audio and video editing, encoding and streaming, the Adobe Creative Suite including Premiere and Photoshop.
  • Experience with supporting Crestron controls and digital media processing/distribution, audio digital signal processors such as those made by Biamp and the products of other AV manufacturers such as Extron.
  • Experience with Windows and Mac OS operating systems including computer imaging Software such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration, client protection software like Sophos, and VPN clients such as Pulse.
  • This role requires periodic after hours and weekend work in support of university classes, events and/or be on call via phone.
  • Ability to efficiently juggle multiple projects and reprioritize tasks throughout the day as urgent client needs emerge.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Flexibility to switch hours to provide client coverage for earlier/later events.
  • Availability to occasionally work a night or weekend event and/or be on call via phone.
