Job Description

  • The IT Project Manager (PM) primarily oversees and coordinates the IT Components of University construction and renovation projects. Working with internal IT, Facilities, and other departments as well as external advisors, consultants, and engineers, the PM ensures that IT needs and specifications are incorporated into the plans for all construction projects. The PM coordinates IT and external resources in site preparation, construction management, installation, commissioning, and move-out/move in functions. The PM will serve as the primary point of contact for coordinating information technology infrastructure planning efforts with university personnel. Deep knowledge and experience with construction/renovation, audio/visual, and low voltage/telecommunications projects are strongly preferred. In addition to construction/renovation projects, the PM will occasionally work on system projects such as application development, upgrades, software installation, configuration, testing and deployment. The IT Project Manager will provide direction and leadership to individuals assigned to project teams in conducting activities related to all phases of project implementation ranging from feasibility and requirements phase through implementation, deployment, documentation, user training, and production turnover. This will include the scheduling, assignment, review of project work, scope change management, and scheduled updating. The Project Manager will work in a team environment and contribute to planning and directing the implementation of projects in a complex and diverse IT organization in the Higher Education Industry. The Project Manager will work with management and clients to report interim and final results. Other duties will be required as assigned.
