Position summary:

    • JOB DESCRIPTION
      • Media Services provides best-in-class support to the HBS global community by connecting campus learning and convening spaces to the world, and by offering comprehensive and innovative audiovisual solutions to our customers. As a member of the AV Engineering team, the Audiovisual Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and managing a wide range of technologies across the HBS campus. This includes Klarman Hall, a new 80,000 sq. ft. convening center opening in summer 2018. This 1,000 seat facility features immersive and industry-leading technologies, including one of the largest indoor video walls on the east coast, voice lift, and an electronically controlled acoustical adjustment system. The AV Engineer will also be responsible for closely collaborating with all stakeholders including users and support staff to understand use cases, provide training, and create thorough documentation. In addition, the AV Engineer will manage inventory and lifecycle schedules in over 250 audiovisual enabled classroom, conference rooms, auditoriums, and other convening spaces spread across 35 campus buildings. 

    • ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
      • Serve as internal expert on HBS Media Services audiovisual systems and tools Independently manage work queue and customer expectations, balance tasks of mixed priority, and clearly report on all assignments
      • Research and identify AV solutions that meet the needs of a campus event or program
      • Act as escalation point for AV technology incidents
      • Assist in AV Infrastructure design and implementation, as well as maintenance and repair
      • Consult with all Media Services staff, customers, and partners to identify innovative technology solutions to aid in supporting the pedagogy; leverage current technology in the HBS portfolio
      • Assist with tracking and managing inventory
      • Collaborate with management to assist in budget planning for AV supplies, equipment, and other needs such as projection lamps and replacement parts
      • Ensure all Media Services staff are aware of and trained on new installs and upgrades of technology prior, to support of events and presentations
      • Assist with the coordination and supervision of vendor support and services
      • Monitor AV systems and processes, reporting and tracking any trends
      • Assist with walk-in customers and phone calls
      • Assume additional responsibilities as required

    • CORE DUTIES
      • Serve as primary contact with user groups and stakeholders including faculty and instructors; contribute to the development of solutions to hardware, software and network related problems Implement and support technical solutions to develop solutions to complex virtual and hybrid production problems
      • Troubleshoot and suggest improvements for software and network related problems
      • Manage and maintain learning space digital asset management system and content retention
      • Implement the design, engineering and upgrading of audio visual equipment and integrate technology into campus facilities and learning spaces
      • Contribute to the management of enterprise service catalog and enterprise platforms; provide training to client/staff
      • Research, analyze, test, evaluate new technologies and their integration with other services; recommend solutions and contribute to implementation of enhancements
      • Abide by and follow the Harvard University IT technical standards, policies, and Code of Conduct
      • Working Conditions Work is performed in on the HBS Campus, with pre-approved remote work occasionally

Minimum Qualifications: 

      • Bachelors Degree
      • 5+ years of relevant experience
