Position summary:

    • The University of Central Florida (UCF) seeks an experienced audiovisual (AV) professional to lead the AV Integration and Engineering teams in the Office of Instructional Resources (OIR). OIR is the in-house AV integrator for UCF and has teams that provide AV consultation, design, integration, project management, and support.     • This position would be overseeing a fully qualified, trained, and experienced turnkey audiovisual integration unit commensurate with any top audiovisual integration company in the country. This position is ideal for a candidate with exceptional leadership experience from the private sector looking to move to a public institution with outstanding benefits and work-life balance, or a current AV leader looking to move into a greater leadership role. This position coordinates closely with Facilities Planning and Construction (FPC), other UCF IT units, the colleges, administrative units, outside vendors and contractors, and stakeholders involved with new construction and renovation projects related to audiovisual installations, standards, planning, and maintenance. The Assistant Director is also responsible for managing the various systems in use by the project team including D-Tools, WASP, and others, and for ensuring their teams are working within other UCF systems (Service Now, AIM, Archibus, etc.) effectively and appropriately.
    •  Oversee the AV design, engineering, and installation of all OIR projects.
    • Assures that all projects are completed within scope, schedule, and budget.
    • This position will lead a team to ensure that all OIR AV designs meet client/project deliverables while adhering to UCF, OIR, and industry standards.
    • Evaluate, architect, document, and communicate OIR standards and guidelines for installation and support of multimedia spaces at the university.
    • Work to ensure UCF stays up to date with all appropriate local, state, and federal multimedia standards, building codes, ADA requirements, and other best practices.
    • Work closely with other UCF units to design, budget, procure, and install the proper AV equipment that would involve and/or determine how commissioning occurs in each building.
    • Maintain and define a minimum campus standard for AV equipment and building automation integration.
    • Solely responsible to create and maintain a campus OIR technology standards document and budgeting information. This includes project budget sheets, formulas, and life cycle costs.
    • Consult with departments regarding audiovisual equipment purchases and installations and requirements for new or renovated spaces.
    • Work with subject matter experts to incorporate pedagogical best practices into multimedia design.
    • Coordinates with other UCF IT teams and leadership on managing end-user expectations, ensuring proper maintenance procedures, and creating and maintaining an ecosystem of effective AV operations.
    • Coordinates with other staff on the analysis and reporting of multimedia equipment utilization and makes recommendations for cost-effectiveness, increased security, energy efficiency, loss prevention, improved usability, and related considerations.
    • Coordinates with UCF Purchasing and other OIR staff on managing costs using state contract pricing and the OIR Multimedia Equipment and Supplies bid.
    • Oversees and is responsible for the creation of AV project budget statements for new construction and renovations.
    • Oversees and is responsible for AV project scope documentation.
    • Acts as the main point of contact between OIR and various departments for major and minor projects.
    • Other departments include UCF IT, UCF FPC, UCF IT Business Center, college department heads, etc.
    • Represents the Director and UCF at appropriate internal/external events and conferences.
    • Attends various seminars, training, and conferences related to current or emerging technology.
    • Participates in related professional organizations.
    • Ensures they and their teams maintain existing certifications.
    • Will be given various opportunities to obtain additional certifications and skills.
    • Update every training completed in the university tracking system.
    • Follows Standard Operating Procedures within UCF IT and OIR to perform tracking and reporting functions within ServiceNow, D-Tools, and other university systems.
    • Works to meet service level targets to ensure a high level of service delivery.
    • Follows Standard Operating Procedures within UCF IT and OIR.
    • This includes staff policies for telecommuting, administrative tasks, creating and maintaining documentation, outage communication procedures, and managing customer interactions.
    • Ensures all assigned Objectives & Key Results (OKR) and various metrics are met on a quarterly and annual basis.
    • This includes departmental and individual Service Level Agreements on tickets and assignments.
    • Other duties as assigned, which may include temporary leadership roles for the department.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates technical knowledge, skills, and abilities to function independently when performing their job duties. Improve business processes for higher efficiency and accuracy. Experience with professional AV control systems. Able to interpret and comment upon architectural drawings and building schematics. Knowledgeable of code requirements and construction best practices.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • The preferred candidate will also have two or more of the following characteristics:
    • Experience in large-scale construction and renovation projects (30+ rooms per project or building).
    • Experience designing and programming AV control systems.
    • Experience with using and managing D-Tools. Experience with WASP Asset Cloud Tracking System.
    • Experience with ServiceNow enterprise-level ticketing systems.
    • A current CTS-I or CTS-D. Additional Application Materials Requirements: N/A

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors Degree
  •  This position should be available 24/7 in case of an emergency and may be asked to work during emergency situations including early, late, weekend, holiday hours, and/or university closures such as during a hurricane since UCF IT OIR is considered a "mission essential" component of UCF's operational capability.
  • Additionally, a person in this position may be asked to work a flexible schedule that includes non-traditional hours to perform essential job functions that cannot be performed during "normal" business hours.  
  • Requires a valid driver's license to use a state vehicle in their job duties.
