New Listserv Transition Coming in Jan 2019

As an ongoing benefit to its membership, CCUMC will migrate next month from the current listserv, hosted by the University of Florida, to the Groups.io platform.  This listserv transition will take place during the week of January 7th and should be a smooth switchover requiring no action on your part if you’re currently subscribed; please keep an eye out for more details next month regarding features and new ways to manage your subscription with this service, or to subscribe if you wish to join the conversations!

In early 2018 CCUMC was notified of a need to change listserv platforms by the year’s end, so our president appointed a task force to research and evaluate alternative solutions.  After the team met with our current host at UFL to review history and gather requirements, they compared (8) potential vendors and ranked them based on (16) evaluation criteria ranging from features to flexibility to overall value.  After concluding the research phase, the task force unanimously recommended Groups.io as the preferred host for CCUMC’s next listserv, and then asked a broader group of members to evaluate it in a beta setting, along with all board members to help vet the decision.  Feedback from the test listserv was shared with the board of directors, after which point it was confirmed that CCUMC would transition to Groups.io Premium as its host.  We announced these plans during the 2018 annual business meeting in Salt Lake City to conference attendees, and have since reconvened our Listserv Task Force with additional members to help with the implementation phase after the New Year.  CCUMC’s board officially approved the transition as of its December 12th meeting, so this message serves as an alert to all members of the pending transition.

Once again, no action is needed on your part—this is simply notice that you will receive an email invitation from Groups.io on behalf of CCUMC the week of January 7th, along with more details through our Executive Office.  Feel free to reach out to ccumc@ccumc.org with any questions; we look forward to sharing the extra features and functionality of this new platform with you in early 2019.  Many thanks to all who have contributed to this change process over the past year, and a special note of appreciation to Mark McCallister and the University of Florida for hosting our listserv over the past several years.

Have a wonderful and safe holiday!  -CCUMC Listserv Task Force
