The CCUMC Professional Development Committee would like to offer a su
mmer book read on Donald Norman’s “The Design of Everyday Things” (2013 ver
sion) and build a common vocabulary around design, share insights into our
daily work practices, and begin to build a community of practice around imp
roving user experiences.
This book can be found on Amazon as well as your loca
l or institutional library.
The book study will consist of four,
45-minute meetings with continued online discussions over the course of th
e summer (June, July, August). Each meeting will include discussion about c
oncepts Norman introduces in the book and looking for examples (or lack of
examples!) of those concepts in our daily work. Participants will be encour
aged to keep a journal as we read with insights, revelations, and observati
ons about the user experiences we create and experience ourselves.
If you are interested in participating in this book study, please
RSVP to express your interest. Dates for the book study discussions will b
e June 8, June 29, July 20 and August 10.
Times are TBD.
Participation is limited, so RSV P below today.
