Position summary:



  • Supervisor, Audio Visual Classroom Support - Information Technologist 5 (AESES)
  • New Budget-Funded Continuing Full-Time 35.00 hours/week; Monday - Friday; 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
  • Salary Range: $39.09 - $52.31 per hour ($71,143.80 - $95,204.20 per annum)

  • Coordinates the ongoing activities of the area, assigning work, reassigning work as necessary.
  • Assigns and coordinates technical staff resources to address service requests.
  • Works closely with other IT units to coordinate the resolution of colleagues' issues and problems.
  • Receives escalated issues and ensures problem resolution or appropriate further action.
  • Oversees the completion of regular reviews of supported areas to ensure operational readiness.
  • Ensures that all Audio-Visual online documentation is current and periodically reviewed to ensure accuracy.
  • Monitors performance metrics of support personnel.
  • Develops and implements operational goals and objectives for the area.
  • Participates in long term planning.
  • Communicates service delivery and maintenance issues to the Assistant Director.
  • Implements new and revised processes and standards.
  • Manages projects to implement operational changes to the area.
  • Consults with other University departments and faculties and identifies and assesses service requirements and priorities.
  • Serves as the contact person for colleagues regarding service provision.
  • Represents the service area on committees and in meetings.
  • Reviews and makes recommendations regarding equipment and products.
  • Provides day-to-day supervision of staff in the area.
  • Participates in the recruitment and selection process for new staff.
  • Provides orientation and training to new staff.
  • Monitors staff performance and communicates to the Manager.
  • Contributes to the performance review process for staff.
  • Assists with maintaining up-to-date job descriptions for positions in the unit.
  • Participates in the development and revision of quality standards.
  • Implements and monitors processes to support the ongoing evaluation of service outcomes of the area.
  • Makes recommendations regarding the development, implementation, and revision of services.
  • Ensures that all staff supervised have completed required health and safety training.
  • Completes all mandatory safety education sessions and re-certifications.
  • Adheres to all workplace health and safety regulations, policies, and safe work practices.
  • Maintains and updates professional skills and knowledge.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.


University degree or college diploma in a related discipline, or equivalent experience and education. 
Recent training in ITIL foundations or other service management-related professional development is required.  
Demonstrated ongoing professional development required related to the Audio-Visual field such as AVIXA 
Certified Technology Specialist (CTS).
Minimum of 5 years' experience in IT service delivery focusing on Audio Visual services.
Experience with the provision of Audio-Visual hardware and software support and troubleshooting; monitoring and reporting systems and service management or contact center tools is preferred.
An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Excellent customer service, decision-making, and interpersonal skills are required.
Strong project management, collaboration, communication, and organizational skills required.
Demonstrated technical understanding of equipment typically found in an enterprise audio-visual environment. Audio Visual items such as audio mixers and DSPs, AV switchers and matrixes, projectors, and cameras.
Experience operating and providing technical assistance with AV control and video-conferencing systems found within learning spaces.
Demonstrated workload organization and prioritization skills.
Demonstrated skills in setting and attaining goals and objectives.
Demonstrated teamwork/collaboration skills.
Demonstrated skill in communicating clearly and concisely with a variety of audiences.
Demonstrated analytical skills required.
Ability to develop strong interpersonal working relationships.
Must be able to work remotely when required.
Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
Experience with media production type service support or help desk work management tool such as Cherwell, BMC Remedy, HP Service Manager, LANDesk Service Desk, ServiceNow etc. is preferred.
Must be available to work occasional overtime and on-call shifts at either campus.
