Position summary: This position will develop and maintain the required specialized video production technical and operational expertise to support video content for university courses and complete other video projects within Library and Academic Technology Services (LATS). The Video Producer will work across a range of recording environments, studio and on location, and maintain a high level of production value. This position oversees all aspects of video production, from pre- to post-production, and will supervise four student workers. COMPETENCIES: Knowledge of electronic media production processes, methods, equipment, and systems. Skill in using electronic media production equipment to produce high-quality video and multimedia programs. Ability to monitor and perform first-level troubleshooting of professional quality media production equipment and systems. Knowledge of video editing software and techniques. Skill in interacting with and providing services to a diverse customer base of faculty, students, staff, and corporate representatives. Rigorous Project Management skills. Self-directed with the ability to lead production projects - Ability to multitask and work in a time-critical media production environment WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: Provides overall management of both studio and field-based video, audio, and online projects through pre-production, production, and post-production processes, including project management, audio, and video recording, lighting, set design, graphic design, editing, archiving, and distribution. Work collaboratively with colleagues across LATS, as well as stakeholders in academic and other departments across campus. Supervise a student team of video project leads and video assistants. Partner with library and other personnel to author and provide video production training to faculty, staff and students. Participate in after-hours service opportunities requiring video production.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Our ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Film, Cinematography, Video/Audio Production, or a related field with electronic media production coursework and four years’ experience self-directing production and distribution of multimedia instructional content. The ability to work within matrixed project teams is preferred. In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
