About the Webinar: 

How can we use our technology and audiovisual leadership to help create a classroom environment that is interactive, energetic, collaborative, and, most importantly, student centered? Whether you're new at building active learning classrooms or are just in the planning stages, this free one-hour webinar will give you fresh ideas on learning space design, furniture options, and state-of-the art technology—with the overall goal of maximizing student success, faculty engagement, and supportability.

Presenters:


Dr. Marie Evans, South Texas College

Dr. Marie Evans offers a unique blend of leadership, vision, and knowledge. A recognized leader in education, she joined South Texas College, a public college in McAllen, Texas, as director of educational technologies in 2013 where her department is responsible for providing state-of-the-art classroom technology equipment and services, audiovisual production for institutional events, and assistance with faculty technology integration training. Prior to her work in higher education, Dr. Evans had over 20 years of technology administration experience in the K-12 arena. She also served as an adjunct instructor with the Graduate School in Teaching and Learning at the University of Texas in Brownsville, TX, and South Texas College, Department of Education.

Dr. Evans earned a doctoral degree in Educational Technology, specializing in online learning at Northcentral University. She holds a M.Ed. in Educational Technology from the University of Texas at Brownsville, and a B.A. in Business Administration from Colorado College.

Dr. Sandra Ledesma, South Texas College

Dr. Sandra Ledesma, assistant professor at South Texas College Education Department, is passionate about teaching and creating learning environments in which students are partners and committed to their personal success. She facilitates motivational workshops for young girls for the La Joya School District middle school campuses and for incoming college freshman. As an educator, she describes her work as “the opportunity and the responsibility to her profession to teach effectively, with fierce compassion and utilize all tools that create magic in and out of the classroom.” She earned her Ph.D. from Capella University in Curriculum and Instruction as well as an M.A. in Secondary and Adult Education, a B.A. in History and Government, and a commercial art degree from The Art Institute of Minneapolis Minnesota.
