Senior Information Technologist (Multimedia)

Job Description: Responsible for the identification, evaluation and implementation of emerging technologies and related practices that support learning. Provide training on the use of educational technology to faculty, staff and student employees. Assist faculty, staff and student employees with the production of rich digital media, including lecture capture, both directly and by overseeing student workers. Participate as senior technologist on project teams with other support staff.

Required Qualification: 1) Bachelor's degree.
2) Either 2 years' experience in a position which was directly responsible for creating rich digital media, or 4 years' experience in a position that included a substantial amount of rich digital media creation.
3) Demonstrated proficiency with the technologies that support on-line and blended learning (learning management systems, lecture capture, Smartphones, laptop and tablet computers, Mobile Operating Systems, information sharing, and appropriate pedagogy), multimedia applications (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Avid, Final Cut Pro), and the integration of multimedia systems used to create digital materials on the Windows and Macintosh platforms;
4) Demonstrated experience in the use of desktop computer hardware and software (Windows and Macintosh platforms)
5) Demonstrated experience in the areas of providing effective customer services (preferably in higher education), evaluating products, and preparing and presenting reports.
6) Knowledge of digital media management systems (creation to delivery).
7) Demonstrated ability to organize, coordinate and supervise support staff and assume project leadership responsibilities.
8) Demonstrated ability to perform duties and responsibilities independently on most tasks and require only minimal supervision to perform the remaining tasks.
9) Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
10) Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver oral presentations before small, medium, and large groups of people.
11) Demonstrated ability to interpret and adhere to institutional policies, plans, objectives, rules and regulations, and standards, and to communicate the interpretation to others.
Preferred Qualifications: 1) Master's degree.
2) Demonstrated experience in the areas of web design, instructional design, and teaching.
3) Demonstrated experience using digital media management systems (creation to delivery).
Pay Range: $50,898 - $68,261

Coordinator, Student Multimedia Design Center Services

Job Description: The University of Delaware Library seeks a motivated, service-oriented, professional librarian to serve as Coordinator, Student Multimedia Design Center Services. The position reports to the Head, Student Multimedia Design Center, and works in a rapidly changing, technology-rich public service environment to coordinate general outreach and instruction activities related to multimedia technology and assess departmental needs. Work collaboratively with other librarians, faculty, and information technology staff to provide instructional support for students on multimedia projects and coursework. Provide initial technical support for the Center, including troubleshooting software, hardware, and equipment issues and the design and maintenance of the departmental web site. Develop departmental staff training and enrichment activities to practice and learn new multimedia technologies. Provide direct assistance to library users at a busy service desk with: computer hardware, software applications, and equipment; microforms, maps, and CD-ROM collections; scanner/copiers and portable media equipment; and register transactions. Assist the Head, Student Multimedia Design Center in overall departmental operations and program planning, including recommending multimedia equipment and software for purchase and recommending and implementing new policies, procedures, and services related to multimedia.
Qualifications: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program. Demonstrated experience with current multimedia production capabilities in Windows and/or Macintosh operating systems using software such as the iLife suite, the Adobe Creative Suite, and Final Cut Pro. Successful experience working with university faculty, students and staff in an academic setting. Ability to use technology to meet instructional and public service objectives. Video creation equipment troubleshooting experience preferred. Excellent oral and written communications skills to enable effective instruction to groups related to the use of multimedia in higher education. Strong public service orientation. Ability to create and maintain web sites using CSS, HTML 5, and Javascript. Knowledge of trends in librarianship and digital multimedia creation in order to effectively serve the student population. Ability to supervise and train student staff and establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse individuals in a busy service environment.
Salary: Appointment will be at the level of Assistant Librarian (level 13) or Senior Assistant Librarian (level 14) with rank and salary dependent upon experience and qualifications. Assistant Librarian rank is entry level for academic librarians with less than 3 years of professional experience.

Job Description: The University of Delaware's Department of Art is seeking a Computer Tech Support Specialist who can with minimal guidance and direction from the Department Chair, oversee the daily operations, management and staffing of computing (digital and electronic) studio areas within the Department of Art. Participate in planning and implementing the ongoing support and department vision for digital media teaching and research activities. Perform the installation, repair, upgrade of hardware and software; performs preventative maintenance of computer hardware, software, peripherals, and networking within the digital and electronic teaching areas of the department.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and three years of computing related experience Effective technical, organizational, communication, management, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with a diverse community of non-technical personnel in a rapidly changing IT environment. Ability to make independent decisions and understand and work from complex published instructions regarding the installation, maintenance, and repair of computer hardware and software. Strong working knowledge of Apple hardware including desktops, portables, servers, storage, OS X and OS X/unix server, as well as scanning and printing platforms. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, and Macintosh OSX. Familiarity with IT industry-standard best practices for the installation, maintenance, and security of desktop and server operating system and desktop productivity software. Experience in a higher education academic department environment is highly desirable.

Job Description: Under the supervision of the Director of Educational Technology and Distance Learning, the Educational Technology Specialist is accountable for supporting faculty and academic staff with the implementation of instructional technology; providing training programs and support to faculty and staff on the use of instructional technologies, including course management systems; and providing administrative support. Other essential duties may be assigned consistent with the general scope of the position.
Educational & Experience Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Technology or other appropriately related field together with one year of related experience required. Demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following areas: application of computers and internet to transmission of instruction, including information technology literacy skills; familiarity with training methodology; familiarity with course management systems; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work effectively with others and to take initiative and work independently. An understanding of the mission of the community college and a demonstrated ability to respond to and work with multiple constituencies and involvement in support of a culturally and ethnically diverse population are essential.
Administrative experience with Blackboard Learn, iTunesU, and a range of Web 2.0 tools preferred. Online teaching experience is also preferred.
